SmoothJazzTimes.com was there. It’s just down right plain and simple to say … Maysa put on another STUNNING performance at the Birchmere in Alexandria, Virginia on Saturday night.

The winner of the 2009 Soul Train Music Awards and world renowned recording artist sang her heart and soul out to the sold out crowd during the making of her 2011 album  release  “Maysa Live at The Birchmere.”

This is a must have CD  fit for all – from jazz lovers, to the ole’ school R&B generation to new school fans.

THE CONCERT WAS FABULOUS AND UNFORGETTABLE.   The jazzy brass section,  the  striking strings,  the harmonic keyboards, bouncing drum beats, the eloquent background singers, and Maysa’s scatting and vivacious vocals are all the reasons for making this LIVE recording go down in history as a phenomenal jazz classic.

Maysa wowed the crowds dedicating the recording to her son and paying homage to some of the finest in the world of jazz – Thelonious  Monk, Sarah Vaughn, Al Jarreau and many others.   She bellowed tunes of wise ole’ tales of struggles and survival, all the while cooling the evening down with sexy love songs.
