On a warm evening just outside of Atlanta—Saturday, June 14th—the city of Stockbridge, Georgia (Atlanta metro), became the epicenter of soulful sounds and timeless voices. The VyStar Amphitheater was alive with energy as hundreds of fans gathered for the Ladies of the ’80s concert, a dazzling celebration featuring some of the most iconic women in R&B and gospel music. From the first note to the last, it was a night filled with nostalgia, brilliance, and pure soul.

The evening opened on a spiritual high with gospel great Beverly Crawford, whose powerful performance brought the audience to their feet. Her anointed voice filled the amphitheater with passion and praise, setting a sacred and celebratory tone for what would unfold.

Following Crawford was the ever-charming Shanice, who lit up the stage with her radiant energy. Her performance of “I Love Your Smile” was met with instant joy as the audience swayed, clapped, and sang along with one of the most uplifting R&B hits.

As the show built momentum, an unexpected weather interruption briefly paused the magic. Out of caution, fans were asked to return to their cars. But the delay was short-lived. The skies cleared, and concertgoers eagerly returned to the amphitheater, proving their dedication and love for the music. It was a powerful display of unity and excitement that added even more energy to the evening.

Back on stage, the crowd was dazzled by the Silver Fox Squad—a group of distinguished senior gentlemen who showcased timeless charm and effortless class. Next, the one and only Evelyn “Champagne” King brought the groove and sparkle with her high-energy performance. Her timeless hit “Shame” had the audience dancing, clapping, and celebrating right along with her. King’s charisma and stage presence lit up the night.

She was followed by the wonderful Deniece Williams, whose legendary vocals filled the air with elegance and emotion. Songs like “My Magic Potion for Love” and another fan-favorite “Silly” reminded everyone why her voice remains one of the most cherished in R&B history.

The magnificent Karyn White then stepped onto the stage, exuding class, confidence, and poise. Her powerful, timeless hits— “The Way You Love Me” and “Superwoman”—struck an emotional chord, particularly with women in the audience who have long connected with her empowering lyrics and dynamic style. Karyn’s energy and style lit up the stage and had fans on their feet enjoying every beat.

Finally, the amazing Regina Belle closed out the evening. She delivered a stunning and soulful finale—singing hits like “Baby Come to Me” and “Make It Like It Was.” Fans were overjoyed with emotion. The crowd responded to the entire Ladies of the 80’s concert with thunderous applause and a standing ovation—a night filled with celebration and soul.

What made this concert even more meaningful was the living legacies it honored. These women began their careers in the era of vinyl, 45s, and cassette tapes—long before the days of digital downloads and music streaming. Today, those same timeless songs are accessible on every major platform, reaching new generations and continuing to inspire. To see these women looking radiant, healthy, thriving, and performing with power and grace was nothing short of inspirational.

They are living proof that passion doesn’t expire—and that the beauty of music only grows richer with time. These trailblazers paved the way for many of today’s artists, who are now building their careers on the very foundation these women helped lay. Many emerging performers continue to express gratitude for their influence, strength, and legacy.

Ladies of the ’80s was more than a concert. It was a spiritual, emotional, and cultural experience—proof that true talent, devotion, and dignity never go out of style. This was not just a trip down memory lane. It was a joyful gathering of generations, a celebration of resilience, and a shining example of how greatness endures.
