Update Breaking News: Legendary Pop Icon Whitney Houston Dies at 48

On the eve of the 54th  annual Grammy Awards legendary mega recording artist Whitney Houston was found dead at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, CA.  Reports say the 6 time Grammy winning Pop singer was expected to attend a Pre-Grammy party at the hotel hosted by her mentor, friend, and Arista record label executive Clive Davis.   

Reports say Houston was pronounced dead Saturdayat 3:55 pm PST.  She was reportedly found in the bathtub of her hotel room.  There is no word on the cause of death.   During a press conference police told reporters that an autopsy has been completed and there is no evidence of foul play.  Police also said that details of the autopsy will not be released as they are awaiting toxicolgy reports.  

Reports indicate Houston spoke with her mother, gospel singer Cissy Houston  and cousin Dionne Warwick about an hour before her death.  The reports say Whitney was looking forward to attending Davis’party. 

It’s also being reported that Houston’s ex-husband Bobby Brown, who is devestated by the news, was in South Haven, MS for a concert with the New Edition at the time of the breaking news.   During the concert, reporters say Brown thanked the crowds for their loving support and informed them how much he will always love Whitney.

Brown rushed to L.A. to be with the couple’s dauther, Bobbi Kristina who had been taken by ambulance to an area hospital  for stress related symptoms after learning of the shocking news that her mother had passed away.   

Whitney is one of the greatest of all times in the music industry.  With more than 170 million albums sold, she garnered chart topping success with her music and movies.  In fact, most recently she was filming for the movie “Sparkle” with American Idol Jordan Sparks.

Music entertainers and Houston colleagues say the Pop icon is known for having  a “God given talent”  Some of her greatest hits include, “I Will Always Love You,”  “The Greatest Love of All,” “He Feels Me Up,” “I Want to Run To You,” and the Star Spangled Banner during a poweful Super Bowl XXV performance that wowed audiences across America.  

Whitney Houston, who was born and raised in a New Jersey gospel church while singing in the choir, is touted for her charity work, her love for people, and sweet personality. Houston is the recipient of an Honorary Doctorate Degree in Humanities from Grambling State University.
